Caminito del Rey tickets are not sold year-round on a rolling calendar. The managers release them in large blocks, months ahead, on the official site caminitodelrey.info. The block that covers this winter and next spring opened on Wednesday 23 September 2026.

This post covers the dates in that block, how to buy, the closures that catch people out, and the honest options when the slot you want is already gone.

The quick answer

About 190,000 tickets for 7 December 2026 to 2 May 2027 went on sale on 23 September 2026 on caminitodelrey.info. You can buy up to ten tickets, as a general entry or an official guided visit in Spanish or English. The site is closed on Mondays (apart from announced special Mondays) and on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January. If your date is sold out, a tour that includes an entry slot is the most reliable fallback.

Which dates does the winter 2026-2027 ticket block cover?

Visits from Monday 7 December 2026 to Sunday 2 May 2027. Sales opened at 10:00 on Wednesday 23 September 2026, with about 190,000 tickets.

The figures come from the Diputación de Málaga announcement, reported by Teleprensa and Málaga Press. Tickets are open to the general public, to organised excursions and to travel agencies at the same time. A single buyer can take up to ten general entries. The official guided visit runs in Spanish and English, in groups of up to 30.

The block covers a long stretch: the short days of December and January, the Easter holidays and the start of the spring season. Visits run in timed slots from the morning to the early afternoon in winter, and the day gets longer from 28 March 2027. We do not print exact times because reports differ; your ticket shows your slot.

The pattern is regular. Each block goes on sale while the previous one is still running:

How do Caminito del Rey ticket releases work?

One big block at a time, on the official site, with a timed slot for each ticket. The popular dates go in the first hours.

Buying is straightforward once you know the steps, which the official FAQ lists: register, confirm your account by email, choose the day and time slot, then pay. After that you add each walker's details in your personal area. Tickets are personal, and reselling them is prohibited. Printing is not required.

Speed matters. Andalucía Información reported that the winter block before this one sold 68 per cent of its tickets in about twelve hours, and Las 4 Esquinas says half the quota of the last sale went in the first hours. If you want a Saturday in April or a slot in the Easter holidays, the first morning of a release is when to act.

Two rules to know before you pay. There are no refunds and no changes. The only exchange is when the site closes for weather, and even then it depends on what is left. Our guide to Caminito del Rey tickets covers the ticket types in more detail.

What can you do if your date is sold out?

Look at tours that include an entry slot, check the official calendar again for returns, and ask at the ticket office at the north access. Avoid resellers.

Tour operators and travel agencies buy their places from the same official sale as everyone else. Because they buy early, a tour can still have space on a day the official calendar shows as full. The guided tour with entry ticket is the closest thing to the official guided visit: your slot, a guide and a radio headset, and you reach the north gate yourself. Without a car, the day trip from Málaga and the coast adds the coach and a bus waiting at the exit.

The official home page says tickets can be bought on the website and at the ticket office at the northern access, while the Visitor Reception Centre does not sell them. Nothing official says how many tickets, if any, are held back for the ticket office, so do not drive out on that hope alone.

One warning. Copies of the official booking page turn up in search results. The official domain is caminitodelrey.info, and the rules say to buy only from authorised sales points.

Is the Caminito del Rey open on Mondays and holidays in winter?

It opens Tuesday to Sunday. It is closed on Mondays, apart from special Mondays announced in advance, and on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January.

The official rules are short: open Tuesday to Sunday, closed on 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January, on Mondays, and on any other agreed closure days. The FAQ adds that some special Mondays of the year do open. In the previous winter, Mondays 22 and 29 December 2025 were among them, and the summer block added eleven Mondays.

No list of special Mondays had been published for this block when we checked the press coverage. If you are planning around a Spanish holiday weekend, look at the booking calendar itself rather than assuming. Christmas week is the trap: with 24, 25 and 31 December and 1 January closed, only a handful of days are left in between, and Monday 28 December is a normal closing day unless it is announced as a special opening.

What is the weather like for a winter visit, and does it close?

Winter brings shorter days, rain and wind. Light rain does not stop the visit, but heavy rain or strong wind can close the route, sometimes during the day.

The official FAQ is clear on rain: with light rain the visit goes ahead, umbrellas are not allowed, and a raincoat is required. Heavy rain or strong wind lets the management close access. If no closure has been announced 24 hours ahead, your visit goes ahead, but it can still be cancelled on the day.

Closures are not rare in winter. The official Telegram channel posted weather closures in December 2025 and on several days in January and February 2026. Follow it, and keep an eye on your email the day before.

Dress for a cold start and a warmer finish. Layers work better than one thick coat, and your shoes must be closed and secured at the back. Our what to wear guide has the full list, and the prohibitions page lists what stays in the car, walking poles included.

Which winter and spring dates are the smartest to book?

Midweek dates away from holidays are your best chance. Easter and the spring weekends are the hardest, so book those on the first day of a release.

Demand follows the calendar. Spanish school holidays, long weekends and Easter fill up first, and Easter 2027 falls inside this block. Midweek dates in deep winter are the quiet ones, with the shorter day as the price you pay for space on the boardwalk.

Our take: if you are flexible, pick a Tuesday to Thursday in January or February and keep a second date in mind in case of wind. If you need a fixed spring weekend and it is gone, a tour is the realistic route in. Our best time to visit guide compares the seasons, and the post on the new suspension bridge covers the new exit you will see at the end.
